Best Way to Organize Your Makeup: Why You Need This!
Although I’ve always been a makeup lover, I didn’t think I had a makeup addiction until it came time to pack for my move. Last year, I moved from Miami to Orlando and there is nothing like good old fashioned packing to really put the amount of stuff you have into perspective! After going through all of my makeup and throwing away all of the products I won’t ever really use again, I still had just too much to fit into one little organizer. Hence, the beginning of looking into the best way to organize your makeup!
So, after moving into our new apartment I realized that I needed a true organizing system for my makeup so that it not only can look nice, but so that it can all be displayed in a way which will allow me to see what products I truly have! Think about it, if your makeup products and skin care is stowed away in a cabinet, you won’t really know what you have. This equals to products just sitting there until it’s time for them to be thrown out. *insert sad face here!*

Before going shopping, I gathered all of my ideas and made some sense of what my ideal makeup organizing unit would look like; the best way to organize your makeup! I wanted the unit to be acrylic with drawers, look nice (since it was going to be on display in our bathroom), and deep enough to fit all of my makeup. While I was looking for a new makeup organizer, I was honestly getting a little frustrated. Every where I looked, organizers would either be too big, too small, not acrylic, or just plain ugly! Until, I stumbled upon a store that was a total game changer for me. What store was that? The holy grail of organizing, of course. It was the Container Store!

There is just something about the Container store where I feel a total sense of peace because of it’s organization. Truly, I may not need anything from there but if I see a store, I’ll walk in just to get some joy from the aisles. (Am I the only one?!) Anywho, back to our organizer. The store is full of many options to pick from. They have larger units, smaller units, colorful units, and they have units that are already pre-assembled and ready to go. Although the organizers that were already assembled in the store looked nice, they weren’t exactly ideal for me because I had a specific vision in mind.
For me, I wanted an organizer that had 1 big and deep drawer to fit all of my makeup palettes. In addition, I wanted a separate drawer for all my liquid foundations/primers, and a drawer for my powder products. Lastly, I wanted a section on the top of the unit for all of my makeup brushes, perfumes, and mascaras. I wanted this organizer to be pretty grand, to display all of my makeup in a way that made sense when it came to storage, as well as make sure that I can actually see what products are being stored there.
After a few trips to the Container Store, I started to lose a little hope because I couldn’t really make up my mind about the last few pieces to go at the top of the unit. I kept putting the organizer in the back of my mind, and told myself I’ll tackle it later. Until, it was my birthday. Daniel surprised me with the makeup organizing unit of my dreams! He honestly took my thoughts and feedback from every Container Store trip (I’m sorry babe) and he put all of my ideas together into the perfect unit. I was freaking out on the inside and I just couldn’t wait to get home to organize my makeup. Fast forward to today, I literally get JOY from going into our bathroom and seeing the beauty of my makeup being all organized.

In this post, I’ll show you guys what units worked for my unit. As I mentioned, I had a pretty specific vision in mind so the units that were ideal for me may not be the best option for your organizer. But, don’t you worry, the Container Store has TONS of options so that you can also organize your makeup and make the storage unit of your DREAMS! 🙂
- The way I organized my Unit (from top to bottom):
- Base: Large Acrylic Drawer
- 2 x Medium Acrylic Drawer’s (I can’t find this one online for some reason!)
- Brush Organizer
- Drawer Insert (For perfume, lipsticks, etc.)
